WATERTOWN - Thomas J. Gilbode age 69 of Litchfield Road died November 18, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia L (Hardt) Gilbode.
Thomas was born January 13, 1944 in Waterbury a son of the late Joseph A. and Mary Helen (Lakevitch) Gilbode and lived in Watertown for over 25 years. He was a graduate of Croft High School in Waterbury. Prior to his retirement in 2011 Tom was employed in the shipping and receiving department at Click Bond. He also proudly served his country in the US Army National Guard. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and especially enjoyed the outdoors.
Besides his loving wife of 38 years he leaves two sons Jonathan T. Gilbode and his wife Carla of Watertown, Joseph L. Gilbode of Watertown a brother Edward Gilbode and his wife Cynthia of Waterbury, a sister Barbara Bouchard of Burlington and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Michael Gilbode and a brother-in-law William Bouchard.
Funeral Thursday November 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with Tom's family on Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street, Oakville. Tom's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Village Green in Waterbury, Waterbury Hospital Pomeroy 5 and VITAS Hospice for their compassion during Tom's illness. Tom's family would also like to thank his nephew Dave Hardt and nieces Amy Haray and Melissa Delia for their love and support during Tom's illness.
