AT THE CASEY-O'DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME
WATERBURY: Thomas G. Kearney - age 55 of Waterbury, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care Unit of St. Mary's Hospital with his loving family by his side, after an extended illness.
Tom was born October 6, 1956, in Waterbury CT, the son of George W. Kearney and the late Frances M. (McKenna) Kearney. Tom was raised in Waterbury and was a graduate of Crosby High School and attended the former Mattatuck College. He proudly served his country with the US Air Force and earned the rank of sergeant and worked as a Postal Carrier for the US Post Office for a few years. He was an avid record collector and was a music enthusiast and was also a loyal fan of the NY Mets, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Boston Celtics. He also enjoyed hiking and backpacking, but most importantly he will be remembered for his relaxed, laidback, personality and quick witted humor. He was a loving and dedicated uncle and will be loved and missed by all.
Besides his father George, Tom is survived by his siblings, Timothy G. Kearney, and his wife, Laura of East Hampton, CT; Kevin F. Kearney, and his wife, Elizabeth of Southington; Arlene Hamel and her husband Roland T. Hamel Jr. of Waterbury, and Kathleen Lavaway and her husband Mark of Prospect as well as 27 nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Funeral services for Mr. Kearney will be held on Tuesday, June 19th, 2012 at 9:15a.m. from the Casey O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St Waterbury to The Basilica of Immaculate Conception, West Main St Waterbury to Celebrate the Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Rites of Committal and Interment along with Full Military Honors will follow in New Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Visiting hours for Mr. Kearney will be on Monday evening from 5 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In grateful appreciation for the guidance and support provided to the Kearney family, donations may be made to the Basilica of The Immaculate Conception Church 74 West main St Waterbury, CT 06710.
