Waterbury Mr. Thomas E. Murphy age 65, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at his home after an extended illness on Tuesday February 26th 2013. He was the husband of Maureen (Grenier) Murphy.
Tom was born February 15th 1948 in Waterbury, CT the son of the late Edward Murphy and Dorothy (Filipone) Urling. He was a graduate of Wolcott High school class of 1966 where he enjoyed playing soccer. He received his degree from Miami Dade College and worked as a quality control supervisor for various manufacturing companies in the greater Waterbury area. Tom enjoyed traveling, cooking, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid NY Giants fan and a Boston Red Sox fan.
Besides his wife Maureen of 14 years Thomas is survived by his daughters Julie Rebelo and her husband Tino of Bristol, Heidi Butler and her husband Jim of PA, Hilary Guilford and her husband Will of Bristol, Sarah Murphy of Terryville, his step son Dennis Gillette of Oakville, his two step daughters Maureen Eaquinta of WA, Jennifer Houston and her husband Mark of Waterbury, his brother Dr. Wendell "Buzzy" Urling of Cheshire, his sister Lisa Weinstein of Medfield, MA, fourteen grandchildren including James, Tracy, Rebecca, & Sean with whom he shared his home as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Betts

Funeral services for Mr. Murphy will be held Saturday March 2nd 2013 at the First Congregational Church of Watertown at 2:00 PM. Friends and family may visit at EASTSIDE MEMORIAL, "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St at Southmayd Rd.
