Thomas "Tim" S. Herrmann

March 23, 1931 — December 1, 2014

WATERBURY - Mr. Thomas S. "Tim" Herrmann, age 83 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2014 at the Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Joyce (Sitters) Herrmann.

Tim was born March 23, 1931 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Thomas W. and Elizabeth (Saunders) Herrmann. He grew up in the Waterbury area and was a graduate of Crosby High School where he was a star basketball player during 1949-1950 & 1950-1951 school years. He attended Trinity College for a short time before proudly serving his country with the US Air Force during the Korean War Conflict. After being honorably discharged, Tim spent 33 years working at SNET as a Telephone Installer and repair man prior to his retirement in 1987. Tim loved to fix things whether it was electrical, plumbing, or carpentry he was able to do it all and was always willing to help his family and friends out with any repairs that may be needed. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church and was an avid sports fan with loyalties to the NY Yankees and UCONN basketball. What brought the greatest joy to Tim was spending time with his family.

Tim's family would like to thank the staff at Saint Mary's Hospital O'Brien 4, and Vitas Innovative Care Unit at Saint Mary's Hospital for the loving care and support they provide to Tim and his the family during his stay.

Besides his wife Joyce of 61 years, Mr. Herrmann is survived by his four daughters; Karen DeFelice of North Haven; Dona Herrmann of Martha's Vineyard; Susan Adams of East Hartland; and Sandra Digiovancarlo and her husband Vincent of Waterbury, his grandchildren Jennifer DeFelice, Thomas "T.J." Adams, Gina & Krista Digiovancarlo and his great grandson Tyler Judkins as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services and burial for Mr. Herrmann will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. A Memorial Gathering will held on Friday, December 5th 2014 at Eastside Memorial "A Casey Family Funeral Home & Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St. @ Southmayd Rd. in Waterbury, from 4:00 ~ 6:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Mr. Herrmann's memory may be made to Vitas Innovative Care of Waterbury 199 Park Road Extension, Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06762 To extend on-line expressions of sympathy to the family or for additional information, kindly visit the funeral home website at: www.eastsidememorial.com
