WATERTOWN - Timothy Whitman O'Neill age 56 of Watertown, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family and close friends on Friday, July 15, 2016. He was the devoted husband of Patricia "Patti" (Johnson) O'Neill.
Tim was born on October 5, 1959 in Waterbury, the son of the late John G. Sr. and Marjorie (Smith) O'Neill, the founders of John G. O'Neill Funeral Home of Oakville. He was a graduate of St Mary Magdalen Grammar School and Watertown High School. He married Patricia (Johnson) O'Neill on May 19th, 1990, whom he adored throughout their 26 years of marriage. If you want a picture of what true love looks like, all you have to do is see the way Tim looked at Patti. His two children, Sarah and Connor, were an incredible joy in his life. He was so proud to be their dad and worked his whole life to give them a bright future and shower them in love and support.
He was a proud business owner, along with his wife Patti, of Shower Door & Window Inc. in West Hartford, where he has worked for over 23 years. He worked with an incredible group of people who he was very grateful to call not only employees, but true friends.
Some of his greatest joys in life were sitting in his Adirondack chair on the beach in Maine with a shot and a beer waiting on his lobster and baked stuffed shrimp listening to Bruce Springsteen. Throughout his life he had a love of boats, whether it was with the Waterworths on their cabin cruiser, with Captain Adam chasing stripers, or sitting in the marina watching the Chris Crafts.
From as young as he could remember, he rebelled against his Red Sox loving family and was fiercely devoted and equally frustrated by the New York Yankees. One of Tim's fondest memories is coaching his son Connor in little league baseball from Tee-ball through Babe Ruth. To this day, he would love when former players would see him and still yell out, "hey coach".
Tim is survived by his wife Patti, his daughter Sarah, his son, Connor and his son-in law André. He also leaves behind his brother, John O'Neill and his wife, Kathleen of Watertown, his sisters; Deborah Napolitano and her husband, Robert of CA, Karen Newman and her husband, Kevin of MA, Sharon Martin and her husband, John also of MA and Beth O'Neill of CA as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his three best friends in the world: David Kennedy, Jeffrey Hughes and Billy DeLauretis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Quilts that Care, PO Box 166, Watertown CT 06795, who provided him great comfort in his time of need.
Tim's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Hong and the amazing caregivers at the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center.
