WATERBURY – Tomas Diaz, age 64 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the Vitas unit of Saint Mary’s Hospital, following a courageous battle with an extended illness.
Tomas was born on May 31, 1958, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late Abimael and Gloria (Perez) Diaz. He was a graduate of Crosby High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Tomas worked for 15 years at ITW until he became unable to work due to his illness. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.
The Diaz family would like to thank and acknowledge the doctors, nurses, and staff, especially the second-floor team, at the Smillow Cancer Center, for all the love and care they provided to Tomas and his family during his illness.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his brothers, Urbano Velez and his wife Susan, Abimael Diaz Jr., Walter Diaz and his wife Maritza, Jerry Diaz and his wife Christina, Steven Diaz, Eliezar Diaz, Bruce Diaz, and Anthony Diaz and his wife Annie, along with 9 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews as well as his longtime and loyal friend Rocky. Tomas was predeceased by his twin brother, Elson Diaz.
All services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. The interment will be private at New Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury.
