AT THE CASEY- O"DONNELL FAMILY FUNERAL HOME - Waterbury, CT. Mrs. Veronica "Ronnie" M. (Proulx) Ayotte, age 83, of Split Rock Dr. Waterbury, died peacefully Monday, July 4, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by her entire family after a brief illness. She was the widow of Robert L. Ayotte who passed away in 2000
Mrs. Ayotte was born in Waterbury on August 19, 1927, the daughter of the late Omer and Agnes (Murray) Proulx. She graduated from St. Margaret McTernan School, Waterbury Catholic High School and Franklin Art Institute, New York. Ronnie was first employed as a commercial artist for Brown Thompson in Hartford and left her career to raise her family. She was a devoted, wife and mother and was active in many civic and community organizations including; Mill Plain #1856 AARP, the Red Hat Society, the Mattatuck Senior Center, Waterbury Triad, East Mountain Community Club, Waterbury Police and Fire Retirees Assoc., Ladies AOH, Monsignor Slocum Div. #1, USS Iowa Retirees Association and the CT Outboard Boating and Camping Club. Ronnie was an avid sports fan especially of UCONN Womens & Mens Basketball and the Boston Red Sox. Ronnie and her family summered in New Hampshire at Bristol Shores, Newfound Lake where she leaves an entire community of close friends. She was an active parishioner of SS Peter & Paul Church where she was a member of the Madonna Guild.
Mrs. Ayotte is survived by her son, Stephen and his wife Theresa of Harwinton CT, her daughters, Juliene of Manchester, Michelle of Prospect, Jacqueline Ayotte-Eichman and her husband Fred of Bristol NH and Christin of Malibu CA. She also leaves a brother Thomas O. Proulx and his wife Bridget of Middlebury and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Joseph and Edward "Ted" Proulx.
The Ayotte family would like to thank and acknowledge the dedicated and caring staff of St. Mary's Hospital, Xavier 3, the nurses, aides, oncology, hospice, dietary and housekeeping staff who cared for Ronnie and her entire family with great compassion during her illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ayotte will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 8:30am from the Casey-O'Donnell Family Funeral Home 1581 East Main St. Waterbury, to SS Peter and Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Thursday evening July 7, 2011 from 4:00 till 8:00pm. Memorial donations in Ronnie's memory may be made to SS Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT 06705.
