Thomaston CT ?" Vincent J. Meehan, age 84, of Hotchkiss Ave. Thomaston, died Monday September 10, 2007 at Waterbury Hospital after an extended illness. He was the husband of Virginia (Farrell) (Duffany) Meehan.

Mr. Meehan was born in Waterbury on June 28, 1923, the son of the late James and Bridget (Kelly) Meehan. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier Grammar School and Leavenworth High School. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp and was a decorated Airman and Tech Sergeant having flown 343 missions in the 44th Bomb Group. Known as the Flying Eight-Balls, these B-24 unit members were cited with two Distinguished Unit Citations during World War II. He was a toolmaker employed at Engineered Sinterings and Plastics in Watertown and retired after 35 years of service. He was an avid golfer and bowler and a lifetime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Monsignor Slocum Division, Waterbury. He was also a member of the Oakville and Thomaston Senior Centers and since moving to Thomaston he attended St. Thomas Church there.

Besides his loving wife, Virginia, Mr. Meehan leaves one son, James Meehan and his wife, Louise of Minneapolis MN and a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Reydel and her husband, Stephen from Newburyport MA. He also leaves Virginia's sons and daughters, Dennis Duffany and his wife, Michelle of New Milford CT, Daniel Duffany of New York City and Eileen Johannessen and her husband, John of Martha's Vineyard MA. He also leaves a brother, Michael Meehan of Waterbury and a sister, Katherine Courtney of Waterbury. He leaves eight grandchildren, Christopher and Sean Reydel, Jessica, Justin, Taylor and Paige Duffany and Colin and Matthew Johannessen. He also leaves his best friend and constant companion, Whitey. He was predeceased by his sister, Mae Carroll.
