WATERTOWN - Violette Marie "Vi" Chapuis, age 95, of Watertown, formerly of Oakville, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday August 9, 2014.
Violette was born September 17, 1918 in Waterbury a daughter of the late Emile and Marie (Filiere) Chapuis and lived in Oakville for most of her life. She was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High School. In 1943, Vi received her degree in Nursing from Saint Luke's School of Nursing in Pittsfield, MA. Prior to her retirement in 1989, Vi was employed as a Nurse at Saint Mary's Hospital where she worked for over 46 years. She enjoyed traveling, doing crafts, skiing and loved birds. Vi was a Communicant of Saint Mary Magdalen Church.
She leaves her long-time friend Diane Haggis and her husband Doug of Watertown, a cousin Anita of Bow, NH and her best friend of almost ninety years Eleanor McNaught.
Funeral Wednesday August 13, 2014 at 10:15 a.m. from the O'Neill Funeral Home 742 Main Street Oakville to Saint Mary Magdalen Church to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11. Rites of Committal will be held on Thursday August 14, 2014 at noon in Bellevue Cemetery, 8 Park Street Adams, MA 01220. Relatives and friends may visit with Vi's family on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until leaving for church. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary Magdalen School 140 Buckingham Street Oakville CT 06779.
