OAKVILLE - Virginia A. Hardt, (Hart) 77, of Oakville died with her loving family at her side at St. Mary's Hospital on Thursday, June 29, 2017. She was the widow of Philip L. Hardt Sr. who passed away just 8 weeks ago on April 30, 2017.
Virginia was born on September 9, 1939 in Waterbury the daughter of the late Arthur and Madeline (Brooks) Hart and stepmother Marguerite (Baril) Hart. She grew up in Waterbury attending area schools and attending Saint Anne's Church. Later moving to Oakville where she and her loving late husband of 54 years, Phil would make a home in Oakville, for themselves and their boys. She was a stay at home mother, housewife, and later when her children were school age, worked as a Cook/Baker at Judson School for the Watertown School System for many years. Virginia was a loving, caring, supportive mother. Upon her and Phil's early retirement they spent 18 years in Ocala, Florida, where she was employed by Publix Super Market, worked in the bakery department for 16 years, were she encountered many new friends with co- workers and her regular customers. Virginia recently returned home to Oakville with Phil to spend the last three years of both their lives enjoying their family and friends. She was a communicant of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville.
She is survived by her two sons, Philip Hardt, Jr., of Ocala Florida, and David Hardt along with his wife, Roberta and their son, Christopher whom she made her home with in Oakville, her sister, Mary Lorraine Hart of Harwinton. She also leaves her granddaughters, Philip Jr.'s girls Amanda Hardt Casey and husband Paul of Waterbury and Olivia Hardt of Waterbury, two great grandchildren; Tyler and Logan Casey; who she enjoyed with all her heart, and her loving cousins, Jimmy Brooks, Bernice Pelletier, and Nancy Murphy along with her sister in laws, Mary Welton and her husband Robert of Georgetown Texas, Joanne Boucher and her husband, Raymond, of Watertown, Brother in law Louis Hardt and his wife Diane, of Watertown sister in laws; Patricia Gilbode of Watertown, Debbie Venditto of Southington, and Diane Hardt of Watertown, and several nieces and nephews, and her long time dearest friends, and her extended family in Canada.
Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Hardt will be Thursday, July 6, 2017 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 16 Buckingham St., Oakville, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Watertown. Relatives and friends may visit with Virginia's family on Thursday morning from 9:00 till 10:30 am at the O'Neill Funeral Home, 742 Main Street Oakville.
