WATERBURY - Virginia (Felton), Wright, age 77 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at her home on August 31, 2017 with her loving family at her side after an extended illness. She was the widow of Earl Wright.
Virginia was born June 17, 1940 in Gatesville, NC, daughter of the late Raleigh L. and Julia (Hobbs) Felton and lived most of her life in various parts of Long Island, NY. After working 27 years for the Social Services in Long Island, she and her husband moved to Sandy Cross, NC then after 9 years moved to Waterbury, CT, to be near family. She was a faithful and proud member of Long Hill Bible Church and truly knew and loved our Lord. She was respectfully referred to as "Mother Virginia" by her Pastor and fellow members. She had a lively and sweet spirit and was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Among her survivors are her daughter, Pamela (Kenneth) Barfield, her sisters, Claresa Harrell, Joyce (Thomas) Gallon, her special cousin, Norma Miner, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her brother in law, Edward Harrell.
Virginia's family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, health care providers, and all of her caregivers for the excellent care, love and support they provided to Virginia and her family during her illness.
The family respectfully, requests that all visitations, expressions of sympathy and condolences be offered during the services which will be held on Tuesday September 5th 2017 at 11:00am at Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main Street @ Southmayd Road, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Family and friends may visit with Virginia's family on Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 10:00am until the time of the service at 11:00.
