WATERTOWN -Vivian Dorothy (Matson) Fenn, age 96 of Oakville passed away gently and peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Watertown Convalarium after an extended illness.
Vivian, the beloved wife of the late George Fenn, was born September 15, 1921 in Waterbury, CT the eldest daughter of the late Mathias and Lillian (Anderson) Matson. She was a graduate of Leavenworth High School and was employed at Sperry/UNISYS in Waterbury. Vivian was a proud resident of Oakville for most of her life until making her home in Watertown with her son George and daughter-in-law Marylou. She was a communicant of All Saints Episcopal Church.
Vivian possessed a natural warmth and kindness that put people at ease immediately. Her family will always remember her as a model of devotion, perseverance, faith, love and patience as she raised her family of five after the early passing of her husband George. She was the source of unwavering support to her five children throughout her life. Vivian's greatest joy was spending time with her family whether it was afternoon (strong, Swedish style) coffee time, birthdays, sporting events, weddings, graduations, traveling or celebrating the holidays, especially the family's traditional gathering on Christmas Eve.
Among her survivors to cherish her memory are her sons George (Marylou) of Watertown, David
(Anne-Marie) of Morris, Charles (Tracy) of Watertown, Thomas (Valerie) of Glastonbury, her daughter Carol (John) Pappanikou of Waterbury and her 15 adoring grandchildren George Jr, Gregory, Joseph, Timothy, Carly, Brianna, Connor, Thomas Jr, Michael and Colin Fenn, Eileen Fenn Bouffard, Kathleen Fenn Cannon, Kara Fenn McDonald, John and Sarah Pappanikou, and her 18 great grandchildren Lyndsay, Kyle, Brendan, Sydney, Katelyn, Lexi, Zackery, Nathan, Lucas, Jacob, Riley, Thomas III, Jack, and Elliana Fenn, Vivian, William and Lillian Cannon, and Maeve Bouffard. Her family treasures all of their memories of their beloved Meme; each one touched by her in some special way.
Vivian is predeceased by her sister, Lillian Adele Elwood of Thomaston. Especially dear to her, she also leaves behind her niece, Diane Elwood and her nephew, Donald (Judy) Elwood.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Watertown Convalarium for the comfort and care of Vivian during the past four years.
