WATERBURY - Walter R. LaBonte age 63 of Waterbury passed away peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on Monday, February 23, 2015 after an extended illness. He was the husband of Patricia (Bossie) LaBonte.
Mr. LaBonte was born on May 16, 1951 the son of Ann (O'Connor) LaBonte and the late Walter R. LaBonte. He attended local schools, graduated from Kaynor Technical High School and attended Naugatuck Valley Community College. Walter served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves. He was an accomplished contractor and carpenter and was employed at Century Brass, AMF Alcort and Michner Inc. before starting his own remodeling business, "Odd Jobs Unlimited". Walter was also a Disc jockey for more than 25 years. Walter was an active member of the US Young Marines, the VFW Post 1979, Wolcott and the American Legion Post 165 of Wolcott. Walter will be remembered as a kind and smart man who was loved by many.
Besides his wife of 29 years, Walter is survived by his children, daughters; Rebecca Sale of Cape Carteret NC and Courtney LaBonte of Orlando FL. step-sons, Robert Giancarli of Waterbury and Steven Giancarli of Plainville, step-daughter Diana Iglesias of Waterbury, his granddaughter Jadyn Sale and grandson, Nathan Sale, step grandchildren, Joshua Batista, Carlos Iglesias and Alyssa and Madison Giancarli. He also leaves his brother David LaBonte of Florida and two sister; Brenda Couture of Waterbury and Sheila LaBonte of North Carolina. He also leaves many Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and several close friends who were an important part of his life. Walter was predeceased by a brother, Raymond LaBonte.
Funeral services for Mr. LaBonte will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 10:00 am at Eastside Memorial "A CASEY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME AND TRIBUTE CENTER" 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury. Burial with full Military Honors will be held in the spring at Edgewood Cemetery, Wolcott. Family and friends may visit with Walter's family on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
