TORRINGTON Walter T. Oliver, age 80 passed away October 9, 2013 at Paradigm Health Center in Torrington after an extended illness.
Walter was born January 17, 1933 in Waterbury, son of the late William and Julia (Commerdinger) Oliver of Wolcott. He graduated from Crosby High School where he played varsity football. Walter proudly served his country in the US Navy and Naval Reserves for over twenty years. After his retirement from Sikorsky Aircraft, he moved to Florida and enjoyed playing guitar, singing, traveling the world and spending time with his three boys.
He leaves his three sons, David Bagley and his wife Valerie of Merrimack, NH, Douglas Oliver and his wife Dr. Ann Coble of Nashville, TN, and Daniel Bagley and his wife Michelle of Ashburn, VA, two sisters, Gertrude Brown of Wolcott and Eleanor Maiolo of Sorrento, FL, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Bill Oliver. Walter's easy-going manner, kind heart and adventurous spirit will be remembered and missed by all his family and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Oliver will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 3:00 pm at EASTSIDE MEMORIAL, A "Casey Family Funeral Home & Tribute Center",1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd., Waterbury, CT. Rites of committal will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may visit with Walter's family on Sunday at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
