Loving husband, father and péperè

WOLCOTT, CT

It is with profound sadness that the family of Wilfred Bissonnette, age 92, announce the peaceful passing of their cherished husband, father, and péperè, who departed this life peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on January 12, 2025, at the Southington Care Center. He was the beloved husband of Lucille (Monti) Bissonnette

Wilfred was born on December 11, 1932, in Winooski, Vermont, the son of the late Joseph and Irene (Granger) Bissonnette. Wilfred proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, showcasing the bravery and dedication that would characterize his life. After his honorable discharge, he settled in Connecticut, where he raised his beloved family and dedicated many years to the manufacturing industry, ultimately retiring as a Master Tool Maker. His commitment to his craft and unwavering work ethic were hallmarks of his character. Wilfred was the embodiment of strength and kindness, a man whose legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him. An outdoor enthusiast at heart, Wilfred found joy and solace in nature. He delighted in bird watching, walking in the fresh air, and cultivating beautiful flower gardens that were a testament to his nurturing spirit. His artistic talents shone brightly as a gifted color pencil artist, allowing him to capture the world around him with vibrant creativity. Wilfred was also an avid sports fan, passionately supporting Notre Dame football, the Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Celtics. He cherished quiet afternoons spent piecing together jigsaw puzzles, reflecting his thoughtful and contemplative nature. As we remember Wilfred, we celebrate a life well-lived full of love, dedication, and joyful pursuits. Wilfred's family would like to thank and acknowledge the caring and supportive staff at Southington Care Center for all of the love and support they have shared with Wilfred and his family especially his primary nurse that he affectionally referred to as “My Mabel”.

Wilfred leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories woven with family, friends, and all those who were fortunate to know him including his wife Lucille of 70 Years, his children; Joseph Bissonnette and his wife Cynthia of Wolcott, Kenneth Bissonnette and his wife Ilda of Bristol, Veronica Hart and her husband Harry of Wolcott, and Patricia Loller of Meriden. His sisters Leona Lewonski and her former husband Richard of FL, Anne Marie StClair and her husband James of Tx, and Agnes Racine of VT. Wilfred and Lucille were blessed with 9 grandchildren: Stephanie, Stephen, Kathryn, Stacey, Aaron, Lindsay, Ian, Seth, and Evan, as well as 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 7 of his siblings.
