WATERBURY - Wilfred Anthony St. Martin, age 84, formerly of Circular Ave Waterbury died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 14th. He was the husband of the late Roselle (Diachess) St. Martin.
Wilfred was born December 24, 1928 in Waterbury, the son of the late Brigadier General Wilfred A. and Dora (Payeur) St. Martin. A lifelong Waterbury resident, he was educated in local schools and was a career veteran of the CT Army National Guard, retiring as a Sergeant first class assigned to the Waterbury Armory, with more than 40 years of dedicated service. Wilfred was an active member of the SS Peter & Paul Church where he served as an usher and helped work bingo. He loved woodworking and traveling with his family.
He is survived by his son, Stephen R. St Martin of Gretna LA, his grandson Sean, whom he treasured, his loving brother, Edmond R. St. Martin of Cheshire and his loving sister, Lorraine Noonan of Waterbury. He also leaves his many nieces and nephews, including his very devoted and loving nieces, Carey and Lynn. Wilfred was pre-deceased by his brother, Richard St. Martin. The St. Martin Family would like to thank and acknowledge the staff of The Cheshire House Nursing & Rehab Center for the care and compassion they provided to Wilfred during his illness.
Funeral services for Mr. St. Martin will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. from EASTSIDE MEMORIAL, "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center" 1987 East Main St at Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to SS Peter & Paul Church 67 Southmayd Rd. Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Waterbury. Family and Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 till 11:30am. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation to your local food bank in his honor.
