WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of William Akra Jr., age 56, of Waterbury, share the news of his passing on Friday, March 7th , 2025, at Saint Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

William was born in Miami, Florida on September 14th, 1968, the son of Barbara J. (Poole) Akra and the late William Akra Sr. William lived in Miami until he was 16 years old and then relocated with his family to Waterbury, Connecticut. He was employed as both a landscaper as well as a factory worker but William loved cooking, especially his favorite fried chicken and potato salad. His stubborn spirit was only matched by the warmth of his heart. He was a very loving person and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his friends nd family. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

Besides his mother, Barbara J. Akra, left to cherish and honor his memory are his children; Anthony Akra and his wife; Ashley of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brandon Akra of Cheshire, Jacquez Akra and his partner; Christine of Waterbury, his step-daughter; Crystal Willis of Windsor, his grandchildren; Joel, Zoey, Nora and Sofia, his siblings; Donell Akra of Stockton, California, Michael Akra and his wife; Melissa of Waterbury and Cedrick Akra of Miami, Florida. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother; Shawn Akra.
