William A Gladding

November 8, 1924 — February 27, 2016

WOLCOTT - William A. Gladding, age 91 of Wolcott, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 27, 2016 surrounded by the love and comfort of his family after an extended illness. He was the husband of Lorraine (Beland) Gladding.

Bill was born November 8, 1924 in Bristol CT, the son of the late Allie and Rhea (Dauphinais) Gladding. He was a graduate of local schools and received his degree from the RCA Institute. He proudly served his country with the US Marine Corp during World War II and spent many years working for Timex in Middlebury. He was a lifetime Member of the Marine Corp 4th Division and was a longtime and proud blood donor. Bill loved gardening, camping family trips and picnics but his most memorable time was spent caring for and supporting his wife and family. He was a parishioner of St. Michael's Church, Waterbury.

Besides his wife, Lorraine of 65 years, Bill is survived by his devoted children; Clinton and his wife, Kathleen of Glastonbury. Christine Lewis and her husband, Mark of Carlsbad CA, Clifford and his wife, Kimberly of Enfield CT, Curtis and his wife, Denise of Burnt Hills NY and William and his wife, Kristin of Colchester CT. He also leaves a sister, Winifred Battelli of Harwinton CT and his brother-in-law, Leslie Beland of Waterbury as well as 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Funeral Services for Mr. Gladding will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:00 am at Saint Michaels Church, 63 St. Michael's Drive Waterbury, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. To honor Bill's memory, donations may be made to Hartford Healthcare Hospice at Home One State St. Suite 19 Hartford CT 06103 or to St. Michaels Church, 63 St. Michaels Dr. Waterbury CT 06704.
