THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF WILLIAM "BILL" LAWSON
WATERBURY- William (Billy) M. Lawson age 76 of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 at Vitas Innovative Care Unit of Saint Mary's Hospital, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family, after an extended illness.
William was born September 1st 1941 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late Edward and Mary (Fox) Lawson. He attended local schools and proudly served with the US Navy aboard the USS McCaffery. William spent many years working for MJ Daley and Waterbury Fire Extinguisher but also worked for GTE Sylvania and the Marriott Hotels. He was a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Church and spent countless hours volunteering at Holy Land assisting the Sisters of Fillipi with general maintenance around the complex. William always looked forward to taking trips to the casino but was always happiest while spending time with his family, especially during the holidays, family picnics and birthday parties.
Among his survivors are his loving children, William Lawson Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Naugatuck, Keith Lawson of Torrington, Mary Carboni and Louis Frutuoso of Bristol, Sharon Schoppenhauer and her husband, Peter of Wolcott, and Tricia Mailloux and her husband, Eric of Waterbury. In addition, he leaves his grandchildren; Caitlin, Kyle, Daniel, Matthew, Kelsey, Joey, Emily and Brooke, his step grandchildren, Amber, Courtney, Kelci and Felicia. He also leaves his nieces, Domenica Lawson, and Georgeann Sprague. William also leaves his longtime companion Ann Koval and her daughter Michelle in addition to aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and other extended family. William was predeceased by his former wife Patricia (Keeley) Lawson and his brother Edward Lawson.
William's family would like to thank and acknowledge their father's caregiver Norma, for the tireless and devoted care she provided to him during his illness. In addition they would also like to thank the doctors and staff at Vitas Hospice.
Funeral Services for Mr. Lawson will be held on Saturday May 5th 2018 at 8:15am from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St @ Southmayd Rd Waterbury to Saints Peter and Paul Church when a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Watertown.
