WATERBURY - William F. Stango Sr., age 78 of Wolcott, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love and comfort of his family on June 23, 2016 at Saint Mary's Hospital, Vitas Inpatient Unit after an extended illness. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Jannetty) Stango.
William was born November 15th 1937 in Waterbury, the son of the late Michael and Rose (Magyar) Stango. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School and spent many years working at Anaconda American Brass as a graphic designer and later at Northeast Utilities until his retirement. Bill was a talented artist and enjoyed drawing and artistry of all kinds. He was a diehard New York Yankees and NY Giants fan and also enjoyed gardening, fishing, making wine and was a trivia and movie buff. What brought the greatest joy to William was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
The Stango family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff at Saint Mary's Hospital Xavier 3 and the Vitas Hospice Inpatient Unit for the outstanding and compassionate care they provided to William during his stay.
Besides his wife Elizabeth of 58 years William is survived by his children, Michael Stango and his wife, Dana Perillo-Stango of Prospect, William F. Stango Jr and his wife, Linda (Urso) of Watertown, Jeanette Stango Capaldo and her husband, Mark of Wolcott, his brother, Richard Stango of Prospect, and his sister, Barbara Lombardi of Prospect, in addition to his honorary son, Michael Nihan and his wife, Rose. He also leaves his beloved grandchildren; Amanda, Billy, Gianna, Michael and Victoria, his great-grandson Baer, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Stango will be held on Tuesday, June 28th 2016 at 10:30am from Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home 1987 East Main St. to SS Peter & Paul Church, 67 Southmayd Rd Waterbury to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Prayers of committal services will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may visit with William's family on Monday evening from 5:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
