LEAWOOD, KANSAS – Mr. William Francis Sullivan, age 84, formerly of Waterbury, CT, passed away on December 5, 2022, in Leawood, Kansas, where he lived.
Bill was born on December 13,193, in Waterbury, CT the son of the late Joe and Betty (Horan) Sullivan. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1957-1959 and then graduated from Concord College in 1962. After college, Bill owned the Dodd Insurance Agency. In the early 80’s, he co-owned the popular Waterbury restaurant, JP Sullivan’s Saloon, and was credited with spurring downtown revitalization. Bill’s father owned the same restaurant several decades earlier. After losing his wife Judy to cancer, Bill spent seven years in Bangkok, Thailand where he continued his life of adventure.
Left to cherish his memory and honor his legacy are his sister, Mary, as well as his three children, Bill, Tara (Kozub) and Brian. Bill also had 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife Judy, his parents, twin sister Barbara, sister Nancy, and brother Joe.
Funeral services for Mr. Sullivan will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 W Main St, Waterbury, CT 06702, at 10:00 a.m. All those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 2324 E Main St, Waterbury, CT. A celebration of Bill’s life will take place at Boru’s Bar and Grill (formerly Sullivan’s Saloon) 357 W Main St, Waterbury, CT, immediately following the committal services at Calvary.
