William J. Wilcox

WATERBURY, CT - William J. Wilcox Jr. age 83 of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Saint Mary's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Diane (Fortier) Wilcox.

Bill was born March 30, 1932 in Waterbury CT, the son of the late William J. and Victoria (Shia) Wilcox. He grew up in the Wolcott and Oakville area's and proudly served his country with the US Army during the Korean War Conflict. He spent many years working as a machinist for the Waterbury Farrell Company and also spent several years working as a bus driver for Southbury Training School until his retirement. Bill was a devoted NASCAR and Jimmy Johnson fan and enjoyed classic cars. He also enjoyed watching his daughter's softball games, whether he was sitting in the bleachers cheering her team on or helping her to fine tune her pitching skills Bill was always there and ready to support her in every way he could. He was always happiest while surrounding himself with his family, especially while spending time with the "apple of his eye", his granddaughter Macie.

Besides his wife Diane of 42 years, Bill is survived by his son, William J. Wilcox III of Florida, his daughters, Debra Wilcox of Tennessee and Jaime Fortin and her husband, Todd of Terryville. He also leaves his brothers, Joseph Wilcox of Waterbury, Robert Wilcox of Florida and his sisters, Barbara Turcotte of Southington and Elizabeth Franceskino and her husband, Thomas of Florida as well as his granddaughter, Macie Hudson Fortin. He was predeceased by his brothers, Earl and George Wilcox.

Relatives and friends may visit with William's family on Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00pm at EASTSIDE MEMORIAL "A Casey Family Funeral Home and Tribute Center," 1987 East Main St.,@ Southmayd Rd. Waterbury. Funeral services for Mr. Wilcox will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
