OAKVILLE- Calista "Cal" (Hentz) Wolinski, age 91, of Oakville passed away peacefully at Watertown Convalarium on July 30, 2014 and is reunited with her late husband F. Michael Wolinski and her son Richard Wolinski. She was the widow of Francis Michael Wolinski, her beloved husband of 63 years before his passing in 2007.
Calista was born June 25, 1923 in Thomaston, a daughter of the late Alan and Helen (Ciezinski) Hentz. She was a graduate of Thomaston High School class of 1942 and has lived in Oakville for over sixty years. Prior to her retirement, Cal was employed at the former Bedfords in Waterbury and then worked as manager at Fabrics Plus in Southbury. She was an active volunteer and communicant at Saint Mary Magdalen Church and volunteered at Apple Rehabilitation for many years as well. Cal enjoyed reading and cooking and was especially gifted at baking pies.
She leaves a son, Michael Wolinski and his wife Judy of Bothell, WA, four daughters Barbara LaFreniere and her husband Gilles of Thomaston, Calista Knorr and her husband Jeffrey of Thomaston, Michelle DeCarlo and her husband Patrick of Naugatuck and Kathleen Lazarus and her husband Michael Lazarus of Stamford, twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday August 2, 2014 at 10 a.m. directly at Saint Mary Magdalen Church. Burial will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary Magdalen School 140 Buckingham Street Oakville, CT 06779.
