Devoted to her faith and her family
WATERBURY - Zeraida Rosado-Garcia or “Zery” as she was affectionately called, earned her wings on September 6th 2023 after a long courageous battle. Although sorrowful, her passing was peaceful with her loving family by her side. She was 82 years young and lived a beautiful life, full of love for her 4 daughters, son in laws, grandchildren & everyone she met.
Zeraida was born in Penuelas, Puerto Rico on October 1, 1940. She was one of nine children born to the late Pedro Juan Rosado & Rufina Garcia. From a young age she was a warrior who inspired all those that she met. A devoted mother to her four daughters, Zeri moved from Penuelas, Puerto Rico to the United States with the help of her brother-in-law, Edgardo Arce into a one-bedroom apartment in pursuit of opportunity & a better life. Despite being in a country & culture completely foreign to her and not knowing the language, she was determined. She worked in service jobs, factories and was involved in local politics, which was her passion. Although we could go on & on about her and all that she did in her life, what she is most remembered for is who she was and her complete devotion to her faith and family. All those that knew her & whose lives were touched by her can agree that you cannot mention “Mami, Mama or Zery and not smile or laugh recalling a funny moment with her, something she did or something she said. Zeraida was always unapologetically herself. Even in her older years she never lost her spark & truly was the life of the family who adored her. In addition to her amazing & hilarious personality, she was a phenomenal cook, loved family parties, dancing, karaoke & every moment surrounded by her family. Mom, our family thanks you Mom, for every prayer you uttered for us, for every candle you lit for us, for the many sacrifices you made for us, for thousands of hugs you shared with us and the unending love you instilled in all of us.
She is survived by her beloved daughters & son-laws; Brenda Arce & her partner Jose Toro, Margie Rodriguez & husband Albert Rodriguez, Carol Arce & ex-partner Jesus “Chino” Luciano & Belinda Arce-Lopez & husband Billy Lopez. Zeraida lived for her grandchildren, Beverly Caquias, Nico Lopez, Luis “Macho” Caquias, Alex Rodriguez, Justen Rodriguez, Caylin Luciano, Giovasky Caquias, & Joshua Lopez. She also leaves her great grandchildren;, Beverly “Luly” Camacho, Kamila Camacho & Jacob Matos.
