Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother
WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Zoraida Ortiz Montañez, age 83, of Waterbury, announces her peaceful passing at Cheshire House in Waterbury on December 2nd, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Miguel Carbonell for 62 loving years.
Zoraida was born in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, on February 19th, 1941, the daughter of the late Eusebio Ortiz and Justina Montañez. She was raised in Puerto Rico, where she spent most of her adult life before moving to Waterbury. Throughout her career, Zoraida worked as a secretary for various churches in Puerto Rico, reflecting her dedication to her Catholic faith. She found joy in singing with the church choir and embraced every opportunity to connect with her community. A woman of many passions, Zoraida loved crocheting, traveling to beautiful places such as Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Spain, and Florida, and, above all, spending time with her beloved family. Her warmth, compassion, and vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to have loved and been loved by her.
Besides her loving husband, Miguel, she is survived by her daughter Sandra Carbonell, her sister Vanessa Carbonell, her grandchildren; Hector Luis Camacho, Paolo Charlotte Betancourt and Grace Camacho, her great- grandchildren; Natanael Camacho, Noah Camacho, Vianeshka Delgado and Makeyla Delgado. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
A Memorial Gathering for Mrs. Ortiz Montañez will be celebrated on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 1987 East Main Street, Waterbury, CT 06705. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
